Invoice QR code reader

Invoices issued by certified software in Portugal carry a QR code with their key data. Read it here to see the issuer NIF, document number, date, ATCUD, VAT and total, and check that the NIF and ATCUD are well formed.

Everything runs in your browser. Files and numbers are never uploaded to our servers.

How it works

Upload a photo of the QR code (on browsers that support it) or paste the text your phone camera or scanner app reads from it. The text is a list of fields separated by asterisks, defined by Portaria n.º 195/2020.

The reader splits the fields, shows the ones that matter for bookkeeping and flags anything missing. It checks the NIF check digit and the ATCUD format; it does not check the invoice against AT.

Frequently asked questions

From the certified invoicing software that issued the invoice. Portuguese invoices must include a QR code and an ATCUD, with the QR code fields defined by Portaria n.º 195/2020.

Yes. Point the phone camera at the code, copy the text it shows and paste it here. On browsers with built-in QR detection you can also upload a photo directly.

No. A well-formed QR code indicates the invoice was issued by certified software with the right structure. Whether it was communicated to AT is something you check on the e-Fatura portal.
